Kate Cragoe Mayfield graduated from The University Of The West Of England in 2009, with an Upper Second-Class Honours in Illustration. Since then she has been working on personal projects as well as a range of commissions, such as children’s story books, tattoo designs, website background designs, information booklet illustrations and album artwork.
Working mainly with fine liner black ink pens or pencil, she creates handmade, highly detailed pieces, avoiding computer generated or altered images.
Kate takes inspiration from details within nature and enjoys creating patterns, often fairly symmetrical and organic. She has donated her medically inspired illustrations to the Wellcome Trust ‘Wellcome Images’, which you can also view on their website (http://wellcomeimages.org/ – search ‘Mayfield’).
